Enterprises Rank EnterpriseDB Among Top “Hot OSS Companies”

EnterpriseDB Places Fourth in Future of Open Source Survey Second Year Running

BEDFORD, MA, May 23, 2012 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) — EnterpriseDB, the leading worldwide provider of PostgreSQL and Oracle database compatibility products and services, today announced that companies relying on open source software (OSS) have ranked the company fourth among top open source software providers in the sixth annual Future of Open Source Survey.

The 2012 installment of the survey, an annual audit of perception and penetration of open source software among enterprises, shows EnterpriseDB in fourth place among “Hot OSS Companies” for the second year in a row, after Red Hat, Canonical and Acquia. Results of the survey, sponsored by North Bridge Venture Partners and Black Duck Software in partnership with The 451 Group, were revealed May 21 in San Francisco at the Open Source Business Conference.

“This recognition by the industry is continued proof that we’re delivering a dynamic and powerful enterprise-class alternative to costly, traditional databases,” Ed Boyajian, president and CEO of EnterpriseDB, said. “Our accomplishments in the past year, like the release of Postgres Plus Cloud Database, our partnerships with stellar brands, and our introduction of sophisticated PostgreSQL management tools have strengthened our standing and that of Postgres with our partners and our customers.”

EnterpriseDB, in 2011, logged more than 80 percent growth in subscription revenue. The company has seen a sharp rise in the number of large corporations deploying its Postgres Plus database over the past year as enterprises accelerate deployment of its high-performance, low-cost alternative to Oracle.

Other key developments from the past year include:

— Releasing on multiple platforms Postgres Plus Cloud Database, the company’s database designed to leverage the scalability, elasticity, portability and low cost of the cloud. — Surpassing 2,000 installations of Postgres Enterprise Manager, a sophisticated console for database administrators to monitor, manage and tune large-scale Postgres deployments. — Releasing key product enhancements to the database, management tools and Oracle compatibility suite and Postgres Plus Connector for Hadoop for big data customers. — Inking key partnerships with large global enterprises tapping Postgres and Postgres Plus to replace Oracle deployments.
